Mentor Non-traditional Adults Returning to College
a
'Project RIRAL's Transition to College project is currently seeking volunteer mentors and/or tutors to support our non-traditional adult students in their endeavor to prepare themselves for the rigors of college.

Our mission is dedicated to improving the lives of our learners through a sustained relationship of support, guidance, and assistance as our students pursue their goals of post-secondary education. Recently, one of our graduates reminded us that without all the additional support she has been receiving, it would be very difficult for her to persist in meeting her college goals.

Another student commented on his TTC mentor by saying, 'My mentor became so much more than I could have hoped. She is an ear to vent, a knowledgeable person to ask questions, and just the right person to receive advice and suggestions. She is a teacher who gives me more in a single email than I have learned in complete semesters. Above all, she is that 'kick in the pants' I need to go out and accomplish my goals, or just simply complete assignments. My added bonus is that my mentor never lacks the right compliment, which builds my spirits and keeps me going.'

If you would like to volunteer to become a mentor and/or tutor to one of our TTC students, please contact: marie@transitiontocollege.org or call 401 722-9800.

Volunteer mentors will be required to attend orientation and training workshops including an overview of the TTC Mentor program, a description of Mentor eligibility and time commitment, benefits and rewards of becoming a mentor, and responsibilities of mentoring.
