Transition to College, administered by Project RIRAL, and coordinated by New England Literacy Resource Center (NELRC) began in spring 2000 through a grant funded by the Nellie Mae Education Foundation.

Its mission is dedicated to improving the lives of adult literacy program and/or high school graduates by providing educational opportunities for students to prepare for, enter, and succeed in post-secondary education.  Its goals are to create a learning environment for adult students that builds on what they already know, helps them to reflect on their individual skills and abilities, and builds confidence in their potential to be successful in post-secondary Education so as to improve and enrich their own lives and their families' lives.

Transition to College will help students further develop the academic and personal skills to fulfill their quest for higher education by developing confidence in their ability to succeed in college and ultimately, fulfill their career goals.
